God Bless The USA

Ideas have consequences. Especially ideas about God. If you believe God to be a certain way, it will effect your choices, behavior, and the way you treat others. That’s why horrible countries have horrible religions. At the core of every terrible country are terrible religions and ideologies. Continue reading “God Bless The USA”

Seeing God In Harper Lee’s Classic To Kill A Mockingbird

Let me begin by saying that I am a huge fan of To Kill A Mockingbird, both the book, and the 1962 motion picture starring Gregory Peck. I find it extremely inspirational. I believe there to be something special about this story and my goal in this blog post is to point out what‘s so special. Continue reading “Seeing God In Harper Lee’s Classic To Kill A Mockingbird”

Hamlet, Shakespeare, C.S. Lewis, And Jesus Christ

The spiritual journey of Clive Staples Lewis from atheism to Christianity was a gradual one. It was extremely well thought out and there were many steps along the way. At a certain point, he reached a position of belief in a creator, however he laughed at the idea of having a personal encounter with God, saying something along the lines of ” since God is so far above and beyond us mere mortals, we have as much chance of meeting Him as Hamlet had of meeting Shakespeare “. The Path: Stories Of Destiny And God’s Sovereignty

For those of you who are not already familiar with The Natural, it’s a classic sports film, which was based on a book by Benard Malamud. It was first published in 1952 and was actually derived from a true story. It’s the tale of Roy Hobbs, who even as a boy, displays a God given talent for playing the game of Baseball. The Drowning Man: A Tale Of Grace

“I think all Christians would agree with me if I said that though Christianity seems at first to be all about morality, all about duties and rules and guilt and virtue, yet it leads you on, out of all that, into something beyond. One has a glimpse of a country where they do not talk of those things, except perhaps as a joke. Everyone there is filled full with what we should call goodness as a mirror is filled with light. But they do not call it goodness. They do not call it anything. They are not thinking of it. They are too busy looking at the source from which it comes. But this is near the stage where the road passes over the rim of our world. No one’s eyes can see very far beyond that: lots of people’s eyes can see further than mine.” – C.S. Lewis Continue reading “The Drowning Man: A Tale Of Grace”

The Only Thing That Matters Is The Truth

Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king ?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world — to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” Pilate said to him, “What is truth ?” After he had said this, he went back outside to the Jews and told them, “I find no guilt in him”. John 18.37,38

Validation

If there’s one thing in the world that every human being is searching for, it’s validation. Although, many people don’t want to admit it, due to their pride. Many would say ” I don’t need anyone else’s approval. I do what I want, and I don’t care if anyone likes it, or not. I’m my own master, and everything I do is for my own pleasure.” But that simply isn’t true. Continue reading “Validation”

Contribution Or Commitment

A wise man once asked me if I knew the difference between a contribution and a commitment. I told him I hadn’t given much thought to it. He said, ” young man, next time you sit down to eat breakfast, be sure to order bacon and eggs. Take a good long look at that meal before you indulge, and consider this, the chicken made a contribution, the pig made a commitment.”  Continue reading “Contribution Or Commitment “
